Tamara i'm sorry to see how your original reply on that thread was deleted, the only way i was able to see it was due to mlue quoting you to reply to you. I had missed this whole thing until it was locked but reading it over made me vaguely ill. Same characters acting the same way with no indication they see anything wrong with jumping down throats and making blatant accusations of people purposely stirring up trouble. In this instance, it was even more appalling because the girl that was accused of doing this on purpose, it was entirely too easy to check her previous posts and see that the accusation was completely false and yet the accuser wasn't publically reprimanded for THAT kind of negative behavior, were they? Seems like what's good for the goose ain't good for the gander! *snorts*

Between that and people's laughing ignorant assumptions about traveling across Australia and how "easy" it is to go to far away concerts like it's just a matter of willpower, i was beside myself. I really thought we'd move past that behavior in the fandom, it's gotten beyond old now.

And Tamara don't feel bad about still liking Darren or still wanting to be around his websites, despite what these vultures would have you think he is not them. I'm going to buck the common agreement and say i've gotten to the point where i don't see why Darren has to be the one to get these people to behave. I think they should be behaving already and it shouldn't take a popidol to make these people treat other people properly. I don't want our fandom to require Darren to babysit us and tell us to behave, we should be policing ourselves (and i mean ourselves not other fans) and controlling ourselves like the adults we claim to be.

Agrees. It's not up to him to oversee fan behavior and it's really not his fault that the behavior of some fans leaves a lot to be desired. My point was that I find it hard to comprehend how a man whose ethos is that of kindness and compassion towards others attracts a certain element who seem to be incapable of showing either of those.

And Tamara, I'll echo what others have said. Don't feel bad or guilty or stupid. You're not the one at fault here and don't you forget that, ok. [img]graemlins/girl_hug.gif[/img]

I was about to answer that thread yesterday on the public forum saying that I mostly agreed with the points that Gilly (Jane) raised when I found that it had been locked.

I mean I have huge sympathy with those people who like Tamara and his US fans and for all those who desperately want to see him. It is disappointing that it looks now as if only one show in Oz is likely to take place, although nothing is cofirmed or certain as yet. I agree though it is very disappointing when it looks as though yet again a lot of people are set to miss out on seeing him. But I will say that I do believe that these sorts of decisions are beyond Darren's immediate control. I'm sure he'd love to appear everywhere where possible.

I think most of the irritation occured because the person concerned at the heart of this argument automatically assumed the worst when she has in fact met Darren more than once and been to see him several times including front row at the Max Sessions after she had kicked up one hell of a fuss over that beforehand! That is far more than most other Aussie fans have experienced and that is why I think people felt so annoyed by her outburst.

I certainly wouldn't class most of Darren's fans as greedy, it's only natural they would want to see their favourite artist in concert if there is a good chance of them being able to do so.

It does rather look as though Darren has to fund most of these shows himself these days since his support from Sony is somewhat questionable now.

Janie, I dont think anyone would be blaming Darren himself for this.. well theres always a few of course who think its a personal thing. I am glad you explained about the situation though. I didn't know who posted what, I was just reacting to people such as Tamara not being able to express dissapointment.

When your fave band/artist doesnt tour it doesnt matter about all the logisitics that you do understand its the emotional gut wrench of desperation that takes over and tends to speak out.

In this case maybe the opening poster of the thread was not really in a postition to complain if they have had many an opportunity. I think people definately have to choose their battles and think about what they have had.

I'd like to think most people understand in relation to Darren that its simply not feasible for him to tour.. but that doesnt stop them feeling like basic cr*ap about it.

Just need to add that I have never subscribed to the theory of " the band/he doesnt love us cause they don't tour" I know its never a personal thing though sometimes the mind just cant comprehend that it aint happening.

I don't like people who do get things regularly to start crying foul either. That kind of behaviour gives all fans from that country a bad name.

I think that genuine people just need to express their disapointment and get some empathy in return ie how Tamara has repeatly said she hopes BJ tour for me LOL. It doesnt mean it is going to happen but makes me feel better that she cares. If someone is unreasonable in their demands yes then they should definately be called on it.

LOL it has been voiced. But as on all forums there are numerous groups of people. On Backstage which is the "fanclub forum" When it has been posted the people who care come in and say "we really feel for you aussies.. hope they make it there" and such comments. Of course theres always a few who say other countries dont get tours blah blah. But for the most part the people of backstage where I post were really good. Backstage have been deleting posts if people post "its official from universal that they are not touring" They dont like news that they havent heard or made official to be posted. So those all get deleted.
Backstage is inhabited by a HUGE number of US fans who do get caught up in their own touring and such and dont pay much mind to anything else. But my personal experiences people have been really empathatic to my whinges LOL I was surprised how many people were really nice about it all. Most fans understood and could empathtise cause they couldnt imagine not going to a show.

On other boards it can get into a fight about it all.. but thats the way of boards I guess.

oh just to add I dont think we have been accused of greedy at any time the debate is more about logistics and economics of touring here.. sales and record companies and band commitments etc.

Plus ironically we would accept just ONE exlusive gig thats how desperate we have become lol.

I agree Terry, it boggles my mind as well to see what attitudes some fans have compared to attitudes Darren seems to encourage.

Thanks for the info Janie, i wasn't aware of that either. In light of that, the comment about greed makes more sense but i find it interesting how no one in the thread bothered to explain that was why they called her greedy, it definitely looked like they were saying so simply because that user was upset over only one Aussie tourdate.

I agree that where Darren tours is mostly a money issue but i find it interesting to consider whether that's the reason he's so frequently in the UK, i suppose a small country like that does lend itself to cheaper touring.

Honestly I think the statements that he actually says are the true reflection of who he is and what he thinks and believes.

However, I think he chooses to ignore what goes on and believes that he is separate from it. I believe he knows a different Maggz than perhaps those of us that just know her from her interactions with other fans. I think he is oblivious to how many of his fans she has driven away. I think they live under the illusion that the ones that have been driven away are just the small group here. Sadly...there are many silent ones that just disappeared. lol...they have no real idea how many actually share some of the contrary opinions because they shut them down so fast.

However, like it or not...the image the media sees comes from his web page and he's not going to garner respect with the type of fans the webpage is designed to attract.

I think you are right mlue, that the Maggz we get to enjoy is vastly different from the Maggz that Darren gets to enjoy. I'm sure all the harshness she can't be bothered to modify around us she does bother to modify around him.

That's why i don't entirely agree that he is endorsing her behavior because even if he does happen to lurk at the board and happen to catch one of these kerfluffles, he's got that other side of her to measure against which undoubtably softens a lot of it. But i even doubt he's seen her scrapping with fans, it's something you can miss even if you are frequenting the board a lot, unless you are a mod paying attention to the little signs those kinds of threads have.

I think, sadly, it would take Darren actually witnessing someone being cruel to another fan in front of him to motivate him to change things. Either that or it would have to be something so big, so well documented and so unavoidable that even he couldn't ignore it. You are also right mlue that he feels seperate from all this. I mean really, one fan being mean to another, what's that to him? There's a lot of us, are any of our scraps gonna stand out, even the more venomous ones? The truly sad part is that most of these incidents ARE forgettable and will be forgotten in a few days.

Of course they all add up but attrition isn't an easy battle to win :/ And the "other side" has made it painfully clear they don't care how many fans silently fade away, just as long as we keep it positive. I'm sorry they seem to feel that way :/

I don't think hes personally endorsing it as in reading everything and seeing it. But the way the board is run is his responibility it reflects on him. Its his OFFICIAL board and is what he wants it to be. Time and time again I have had to face the truth is he doesnt actually care and that he probably endorsed "inappropriates" being ousted.

I am sure he thinks there all great people because to him they are fans and come across relatively nice and always supportive. He just doesnt see the carnage thats left in the wake I guess LOL.

I dont blame him for their actions they have to take responsibility for that themselves.

But what I wanna know is what happened to the Darren that created SavageFan so we didnt have big brother so to speak watching over us and everyone was free (within reason) to speak their minds.

I agree with you Steen in that the "other side" dont care as long as its all positive towards Darren.

Oh well I am sure we will all carry on with our lives as per usual.. as will they.
